In our fast-paced modern world, we often neglect the intricate details that surround us, leading us to miss out on the beauty hidden in plain sight. The artwork of miniature artist Lorraine Loots has become a canvas for emotions as she explores themes of grief, loss, and nostalgia and ways in which she could make these emotions more tangible. In a world filled with constant motion, it’s importa...

Who is this
Fantastic documentary. So much of what was said resonates with me and how I feel about painting miniatures.
I absolutely love your artistry. It's amazing and I'm an instant fan
Beautifully shot video, love the overall production. Plus it highlights a South African artist!! Yes pls!!!!
Keeping an eye on this! 👀
Woww Superb 👏
Good job guys!🔥
I am a miniature painter too. I understand the desire to be seen as a "real artist" and I think it's 100% a real art. What separates it from art that is taken more seriously is that it's also true that it's a toy and the subject matter is usually not very profound. That doesn't make it worse than other types of art, but I feel it should be acknowledged. They are toys - but there's nothing stopping toys from being art. FWIW, many of the best miniature painters are artists in other forms - professionally or using other media like canvas or sculpture more traditionally.
Just got into the hobby and loving it. Love the passion the people involved have! Amazing documentary!
amazing art

Всё прекрасно кроме гитлера на стене.
Absolutely beautiful.
OMGosh.... We need a way for regional people to get access to the games as well as the mini's. This is one of those videos that really makes you think. 'What could I do'
Great stuff!
Tellement original avec cette touche qui permet en dépit de l'abstraction de deviner le personnage avec énergie et puissance.
Super Docu, thanks. You 've made my day, someones who understands!
Bravo
Absolutely incredible work!!!
More people should see this. I particularly like that these people are sharing the meditative and calming aspects of it. Thankyou to the guy in this for talking about depression. Most people I talk to about depression get uncomfortable and don't want to engage in conversation. It's only when depression culminates in suicide that people have a reaction like "omg that's so sad". I have mostly stopped talking about it, trying to explain my at times weird behaviour because people don't want to hear it, and they just think I'm weirder. Also I believe this hobby can help with addiction. It is of course an addiction on its own, but a much healthier and rewarding one. I have stopped playing video games and ceased spending heaps of money uncontrollably on another addiction that I'm not going to share in this most public of spaces. I've decided I don't like painting bent, and that I like painting so much I'd rather go without the other thing. If you think addiction is a problem for a minority of people (aka drug addicts)...consider the things people desire uncontrollably and to excess: alcohol, TV, video games, work, checking their phone, social networking, money, possessions, sugar, junk food, coffee, petroleum, sex, porn, etc, etc, etc. Addiction is the unspoken theme of our age. We are collectively so addicted to consumerism that we are destroying the planet for it. Classic drug addict behaviour. Anyway I'm not here to point the finger at anyone, I feel generally less concerned about all the bad sh&t going on because at least I can paint minis. Is that a bad attitude? I do feel frustration painting. but it's a good kind of frustration, because I think about what is not working well, and work at making it better. Then comes satisfaction when it looks pretty neat. GREAT VIDEO AND THANKYOU!
I like coffee I have a lot 5hectar I need coffee seeds how to order?
It's great... lovely workshop painting ❤👍🏾
this transcends mark making, it's haunting deconstruction, meaningful an story telling.
This is so good! It expresses what we all feel and why we do this!
this is amazing thank you for making this!! It so clearly puts into words the beauty in this hobby that is often very difficult to communicate. fantastic work
What is the artist’s name?
Awesome video! Great job!
I mean it isn't abstract, but it is nice
This is some really beautiful painting.Great textures energy color and movement. Really active juicy surfaces with lots of air in the work. It was a pleasure to see you work. Sort of like Franz Kline meets Carravagio.
Beautiful and inspiring.
Thank you 🙏🏻
I'm in the weird place of playing the wargames, but always being obsessed with painting all my miniatures and to an ever-higher degree, despite how this makes my painting take longer and longer. And then learning people sculpt their own pieces (currently looking through a book of Mike Blank's work) I've got nothing but admiration for the miniature painters & sculptors of the world. I don't think people understand how one could sacrifice so much time and effort for such a prolonged and, in a certain sense, never-ending pursuit. But that is because they see the technical ability and yet miss the deeper drive which validates art.
Wow this was fucking amazing to watch! The artistry you put into making this film is really apparent. Watching this really boosted my confidence about being a mini painter. I recently got back into painting after 10 years wasted on heroin and now that I've managed to put down the needle, I've picked up a paint brush. Painting is the only thing that's getting me through the day but I feel almost ashamed of it. Despite really loving it, I feel like I'm just wasting my time painting "toys". The way you framed the subject has given me some pride in what I do and inspired me to keep going. Thank you for making this <3
Never be ashamed of what brings you peace and happiness to your soul, its truly heartwarming to hear the benefits this hobby provides for so many people!! Keep painting!!
OMG Guys... this is legit. THANK YOU for this. Wonderfully executed.
This is a lovely tribute to a hobby that means a lot more and has a great amount more depth than most assume.
Really great documentary! I would love to see more from you guys
Love this~! Great job and thanks for everyone that shared their stories in this documentary.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it so much. It's really great to be able to give back to this awesome community. Thanks for the signal boost on the podcast again. It's helped give us some momentum
Woah! As a south african miniature enthusiast myself, this got me so hyped to see that we have such an awesome mini painting community right here in my own city! I had no idea about this cause it is such a niche "hobby". Cant wait to get involved!
I agree! I did not know there was a mini painting community so close by! I feel inspired and in a way validated to now incorporate my mini painting more into my daily routine and not just reserve it for weekends or holidays. Really great documentary!! I can’t wait to get more involved in the awesome community!
That's really encouraging to hear. Who needs meditation when you can paint minis? 😁
That was really great. Need more :)
Beautifully done.
Thank you for this. It's nice to see a high quality piece highlighting the positive aspects of our hobby.
This is absolutely on the mark! Thank you for articulating what I struggle to explain to my friends, family and colleagues and the value we place on this immaculate art form!
It's been so great to be able to give a voice to something so many have felt but not been able to communicate.
Well Done guys!
That's a realy cool documentary. Congrats. I agree with a lot of things in it.
Awesome stuff, and great to see videos like this on the hobby we all know and love!
